Pisces New Moon Musings

This month the new moon enters the sign of Pisces, a mutable water sign. This means that Piscean types are often beyond definition and a wee bit hard to pin down! Some keywords for Pisces are “I believe”, compassionate, intuitive, artistic, introspective and friendly. I love being amidst Piscean energy because it’s like swimming in a world without boundaries - so freeing! The shadow side of Pisces relates to forgetfulness, martyrdom, melancholy and feeling misunderstood. Pisces also relates to the feet so next time you visit your favorite Pisces check out their shoe collection, I bet you’ll be impressed!

So, on March 15, 2010 when the New Moon enters Pisces get ready to:

- Take time for dreams, intuitive play, artistic pursuits and escapism

- Get romantic and get spoiled

- Really listen and empathize with a friend’s woes

- Meditate, relax, recharge and space out!

More About The Lunar Cycles

The new moon is the perfect time of the month to plant seeds of intention for the month ahead. It is a time of trust, of beginnings and of letting go into intuition. The new moon lies in darkness, not yet reflecting the light of the sun, so our intentions may not yet be fully revealed to us and therefore trust is necessary - trust and faith that your newly planted seeds are indeed germinating beneath ground.

Allow the moon maiden/mother/crone to be your touchstone for balance, serenity and divine knowing. Let her cool, pale fingers touch your spirit as your soul flows knowingly, calmly, and with strength into divine being-ness. Allow her to be your support system to keep you pure, whole, holy and connected with your soul’s true purpose. Bless her as you bless yourself, for truly, we are all One.

The moon changes signs approximately every 2 ½ days, going through all twelve signs of the Zodiac every 29 ½ days. The sign that the moon is in reflects qualities of your inner self and being-ness. Each month there is at least one new moon that will rise at sunrise and set at sunset. Astrologically speaking this means that the sun and the moon are in conjunction.

Pisces Meditation and Affirmation:

“To feel love is pure warmth, wholeness, open-ness, selfless-ness, shameless, guiltless joy – that is love.”

A Message From Aquamarine

Pisces needs freedom to dream. What dreams are you holding onto? What dreams are buried within your soul? Let them out and onto paper, even if you’re unsure and feeling scared. Know that love that awaits you. Be brave.

What do your dreams look like, feel like, taste like, sound like? Start out by writing down some keywords to get your juices flowing and then allow them to flow into a river as your dreams start to flow out of you.

Try sleeping with an aquamarine or a picture of one under your pillow at night and make sure to request dreams of intention, and dreams of happiness and love. Allow visions to flow through you while sleeping and be ready with pen and paper to record them when you awaken.

My Version of Pisces

“Guess Poet” is part of a series of left-handed drawings I created over a period of five years. These drawings were later turned into an oracle card deck that I use for soul readings.

Guess Poet encourages all of us to water our souls by closing our eyes and gazing within our soul’s interior. What do you see, or better yet, what do you feel? Is there anyone else there with you? If you start to feel sleepy and want to wake up, make sure to have a glass of water handy. Now, open your eyes and ask yourself, “What parts of this inner vision do I see around me?” Explain.

If you can see your inner vision expressed in the outer world, congratulations! If not, you need a warm fuzzy hug and then I have a question for you, “How can you bring this vision into reality?” Now, make a wish list of at least three things you would like to express. Next, turn those three things into intentions knowing this is something you will put into play in the month ahead.

New Moon In Aquarius

February 13, 2010

This month’s New Moon is in the sign of Aquarius, a fixed air sign. You know the type…usually on the outer edge of everything peering in, or lost in space, or surrounded by a large group of friends, but not really close to any of them.

Aquarians are known for their independence, individuality and detachment. Their shadow side comes out in contrariness, rebellion and emotional unavailability.

Moon in Aquarius calls us to the circle, collaboration and collectivization. We recognize that what one does effects us all. We tend the web of community as natural team-builders.

My version of Aquarius

Abraxia is part of a series of left handed drawings I created over a period of five years. To me she represents the essence of Aquarius – independent, unusual, and “Nut-like” – as in the Egyptian Goddess Nut, ruler of the night sky. It’s a good idea to keep Abraxia in front of you as you prepare to answer her questions, and yes, she does like an audience although she may not admit it! So keep a pen and paper handy to take notes starting off with how she makes you feel – first impressions are best.

Abraxia’s Questions:

When have you gone out on a limb recently and how did it feel?

Choose a symbol to represent how that feels.

As you sit and ponder your New Moon intentions (you have written them out, haven’t you?!) ask yourself what first step you could take that would satisfy that symbol you’ve just come up with for yourself.

Describe that first step in detail.

Now, to take this exercise even further I’m going to ask you to be very Aquarian with your plan and to share it with the world-at-large or at least with your friends so that we can all learn from you. How will you do this? How does this idea make you feel?

An Abraxian Exercise

Go outside (especially at sunset) and wave your arms in the air as you let your fingers tingle and shimmy. You are Goddess Divine upholding the sky. Repeat 3 times after me:

“I AM GODDESS DIVINE”

“I AM GODDESS DIVINE”

“I AM GODDESS DIVINE”

Now, get out there and save the world, as only you can!

Aquarian Gemstone Messages

A Message from Opal:

Let yourself be colorful in a subtle way. Then one day surprise yourself by doing something wildly colorful, no holds barred – let your inner imp out to play and feel the freedom that accompanies your decision.

Now congratulate yourself on being brave and remember you can always switch gears and tone things down at any time, especially if you start to get carried away (having too much fun!)

A Message from Obsidian:

Don’t be afraid to take a chance on love – you’re worth it!

Sparkly Blessings to All!

Moon Cycles

Learning to live with duality, maybe one day I'll find triplicity. "I'll keep your heart with mine Till you come to me..." From "Penelope's Song" by Loreena McKennitt

The moon cycles us through an understanding of relationship - with the sun, our source, our spirit mission.

The moon's glow a mere reflection - in blue of night we 'see', we intuit, we reason, about that which is too bright to view by day and the naked eye.

"The moonlight it was dancing On the waves, out on the sea." From "Beneath a Phrygian Sky" by Loreena McKennitt

Capricorn New Moon Musings

New Moon In Capricorn – January 15, 2010. This is a brand new column for me and I’ve decided to write about my favorite topic, the New Moon and why is that? Because I have been working with the New Moon for many years and have been setting intentions along the way. The New Moon is the dark time of the month and so it’s an appropriate time to plant our seeds of intent for the month ahead and watch them grow and bloom as the Moon waxes to Full.

This month’s New Moon is in the sign of Capricorn, a cardinal earth sign, meaning that Capricornian types like to be the boss, but in practical ways relating to the earth, foundation, structure and what brings value and meaning to a life lived amongst our fellow human beings. Some key words for Capricorn are: ambitious, status quo, self-discipline, common sense, logic, patience and self-sufficiency. I like to associate Capricorn with paternal figures, landlords, bosses and rules!  The shadow side of Capricorn relates to workaholism, emotional constriction, sorrow, loneliness, and time-serving. Capricorn also relates to our bones, and especially our knees that can give out when we work too hard, haven’t you noticed?

So, on January 15th, 2010 when the New Moon enters Capricorn get ready to:

- Ground your intentions in right action in the material world.

- Strengthen your willpower and commitment to purpose.

- Channel your ambitions in accord with your duties.

- Get serious.

Learning to work in concert with the phases of the Moon is an excellent way to add structure to your life. You are not only connecting with Mother Nature through the Moon’s reflection of the Sun and the Earth, but with human nature and especially with feminine nature who’s natural cycles resemble the Moon’s own.

Back To The New Moon in Capricorn, But With A Twist!

To add another level of importance (ahem, we are talking about Capricorn here!) to this New Moon I’m going to throw my own tarot card version of The Devil (from my Lefty Oracle deck) into the mix.

One way of working with The Devil card is by propping it up so that you can see it and then pretend that you are being grilled by this so-called Devil! You can start off by asking yourself what this image is saying to you by finding out how it makes you feel. I suggest that you grab some paper and pen or your trusty journal and take some notes along the way!

So here is what The Devil might sound like and keep in mind that this exercise is good practice for getting tuned up for the actual New Moon especially since these questions are going to help you kick start an entire year of intention work!

The Devil’s Questions:

It is time now to acknowledge the Capricorn side of your nature and yes, every one of you has Capricorn somewhere in your birth chart.

By resisting me you only make me stronger (and yes, you too, in the process). What things in your life are you resisting right now?

Why are you being so hard on yourself?

Can you accept yourself with all your faults and limitations?

Tell me about your purpose, your foundation, your favorite modes of being creative and what you’re working on right now.

What have you come here to accomplish?

What do you need help with?

Who can help you with these things?

Who is preventing you from accomplishing what you need to?

Who is keeping you on track? Take a moment or two to acknowledge these folks right now.

In closing:

Okay, enough with The Devil, I think you get the picture! Now, when you’re ready to write out your New Moon intentions you’ll have some good, juicy material to work with. And remember, at the Full Moon you’ll be tracking how these intentions have come to fruition and at the Dark Moon (just before the New Moon) you can release all that is keeping you back from reaching your full potential. It’s time to acknowledge yourself as the unique, creative and special person that you are.

Sparkly Blessings to All!
