The 52 Project, Chiron Return (on turning 50 this year) and 365 Leftys a Day

I am painting a Lefty-a-day for 52 weeks (365 days) as part of Riverside Art Museum's 52 Project using my non-dominant left hand (and my right hand occasionally) and posting work-in-progress on my Instagram. The 52 Project is RAM's newest "Art Make" enterprise, where a group of creative people find inspiration and motivation from one another while working on a 52-week, self-directed art journaling project. The goal is to help develop the habit of capturing inspired ideas and being more artful on a regular basis with an option to write an exhibit/project proposal to submit to the museum and have a 4-day exhibition/performance during the summer of 2016. Interestingly enough I started The 52 Project  two days before the beginning of my Chiron Return and the exact same day as starting painting Lefty Talismans

Astrologically speaking, Chiron Return (when the planet Chiron, otherwise known as 'the wounded healer' returns to the same position in the sky as when you were born) is a time where the original wounding re-surfaces. If it's going well it's a time of deep peace and completion; a spiritual coming of age (according to Astrologer, Martin Lass in his book about Chiron). I won't go into past lives and how the wounds I've experienced before have re-surfaced, other than to say that I'm learning about Faith yet again.

My goal in doing The 52 Project is to take a complete break from selling my art and focusing on the 'business of art' to instead focus on making the art and truly figuring out what the hell I'm trying to say.

Right now I'm quite overwhelmed with all the many websites and social media platforms I have. Don't get me wrong, I love them all; playing around online and social networking is a hoot, but I need to streamline. I envision my online world in one year after completing The 52 Project (May 3, 2016) and my ideal vision involves a new and uber streamlined website and just one FB Page plus an Instagram account. I see myself focused, with one primary online style and successful; whatever that means I can't tell you right now and I'm not defining it either.

When I painted yesterday's lefty-of-the-day I painted a Goddess (Goddess Love - see first photo below) and

I realized that even if no one else on the planet likes it, I DO and that counts more than anything. There are enough folks painting 'popular', 'trendy', 'political' stuff, I need to paint what I like. ~ Sketchbook notes, June 6, 2015

I love being amidst Piscean energy because it’s like swimming in a world without boundaries - so freeing! The shadow side of Pisces relates to forgetfulness, martyrdom, melancholy and feeling misunderstood. The new moon is the perfect time of the month to plant seeds of intention for the month ahead. It is a time of trust, of beginnings and of letting go into intuition. The new moon lies in darkness, not yet reflecting the light of the sun, so our intentions may not yet be fully revealed to us and therefore trust is necessary - trust and faith that your newly planted seeds are indeed germinating beneath ground.

Allow the moon maiden/mother/crone to be your touchstone for balance, serenity and divine knowing. Let her cool, pale fingers touch your spirit as your soul flows knowingly, calmly, and with strength into divine being-ness. The moon changes signs approximately every 2 ½ days, going through all twelve signs of the Zodiac every 29 ½ days. The sign that the moon is in reflects qualities of your inner self and being-ness. 1. A Message From Aquamarine

Pisces needs freedom to dream. What dreams are you holding onto? What dreams are buried within your soul? Let them out and onto paper, even if you’re unsure and feeling scared. Know that love that awaits you. Be brave.

What do your dreams look like, feel like, taste like, sound like? Start out by writing down some keywords to get your juices flowing and then allow them to flow into a river as your dreams start to flow out of you.

Try sleeping with an aquamarine or a picture of one under your pillow at night and make sure to request dreams of intention, and dreams of happiness and love. Allow visions to flow through you while sleeping and be ready with pen and paper to record them when you awaken.

My Version of Pisces

“Guess Poet” is part of a series of left-handed drawings I created over a period of five years. These drawings were later turned into an oracle card deck that I use for soul readings.

Guess Poet encourages all of us to water our souls by closing our eyes and gazing within our soul’s interior. What do you see, or better yet, what do you feel? Is there anyone else there with you? If you start to feel sleepy and want to wake up, make sure to have a glass of water handy. Now, open your eyes and ask yourself, “What parts of this inner vision do I see around me?” Explain.

If you can see your inner vision expressed in the outer world, congratulations! If not, you need a warm fuzzy hug and then I have a question for you, “How can you bring this vision into reality?” Now, make a wish list of at least three things you would like to express. Next, turn those three things into intentions knowing this is something you will put into play in the month ahead.
