The Night Before Solstice (Crone Denial NO More!)

The Night Before Solstice by Kathy Crabbe Crazee Janice dancing as fast as she can by Kathy Crabbe (Creative Soul Deck)

I got sick for a day, probably because I burnt out on marketing, so I'm throwing it all out the window for Solstice...letting go...ahhhh. As I sit in my hot tub and feel the weight lifting I relax fully and completely into Goddess; into me.  Funny thing is, when I do this two great ideas come to me.

  1. I need to focus on ME and that's okay; in my art and my writing.
  2. There isn't much out there for the CRONE online. It's Millennial dominated (and Gen X) and I am the bridge.

I was born in 1965 so I am the very first of my generation (Gen X) to turn fifty. I understand the computer and am comfortable there and I can share all I do with other CRONES.

Strangely enough,  I was at a store yesterday (bargain shopping, of course) with my buddy; a fellow artist and crone, and the checkout lady asked if I wanted the Senior Discount. "What?!" I said..."NO! I'm not a senior yet". My friend, Terri Stiles Alkayali who is, inquired what qualified one as a senior and then gladly took the 20% discount. Later, she laughed, saying I was in CRONE DENIAL. I love that term. Did she make it up? Anyway, here's to the CRONE and yes, I celebrate CRONE-DOM with my beautiful grey hair. I'm fifty and proud of it. ***Blessed Be***

Algiz (protection) from the Creative Soul Guide Series

When i painted Algiz, a Norse rune symbol appeared in her/his hair and when I looked up it's meaning in Diana L. Paxson's excellent book Taking Up The Runes i found this:

Elhaz (or Algiz) is one of the most generally useful of runes in practical magic. Combined with other runes in a bindrune, it invokes their force for protection...Used alone, it can be drawn on doors and windowsills to protect a house or on the hood of an automobile (I painted one on my luggage!) It is drawn on the forehead when one is going into danger and projected outward to create a circle of protection...Note that the reversed form of the rune is the same as the circled peace symbol.

New Moon In Libra – October 7, 2010.

This month the New Moon enters the airy, cardinal sign of Libra, symbolized by the scales of justice. During your New Moon Meditation allow yourself to focus on the beauty, harmony, and cooperation within your personal relationships. Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and has much to teach us about poetry, equality and peaceful cooperation.

When the Moon enters Libra on October 7th get ready to:

- delve into culture: the arts, music, poetry - make time for social gatherings - be in love and be loving - handle conflict with fairness and equality - flood the mind with beauty - seek common ground with others - cultivate the refined, elegant and lofty dimensions of experience

More About The Lunar Cycles

Female nature is profoundly lunar at its biological base ~ Vicki Noble.

The new moon is the perfect time of the month to plant seeds of intention for the month ahead. It is a time of trust, of beginnings and of letting go into intuition. The sign that the moon is in reflects qualities of your inner self and being-ness. Each month there is at least one new moon that will rise at sunrise and set at sunset. Astrologically speaking this means that the sun and the moon are in conjunction. Take time to realign with the moon each month because with practice you’ll discover that you can create all you desire and so much more.

Libra Meditation:

Spin forever in beauty & dance Ride your chariot, harness the wind Find Divine balance within.

Introducing The Moon Muses

The Moon Muses are intuitive guides and question askers that offer insight and wisdom along with exercises to heal and inspire you. They are creative leap takers forming a glowing moonlit bridge between your rational self and your higher self, a self that dwells in pure intuition, clairvoyance (clear seeing), meditative reflection and dreaming. This month you will meet a Gemstone Muse, Bloodstone and Dalmia, a Lefty Oracle Muse. I encourage all of you to create a Moon Musing Journal to record your monthly moon explorations (more about this in my eClass, Awaken Your  Divine Feminine Soul.

Dalmia. Watercolor on paper, 8 x 10 inches. © 2010 by Kathy V. Crabbe

My Version of Libra: Dalmia

“Dalmia” is part of a series of 500 or so left-handed (my non-dominant hand!) drawings I created over a period of five years. These drawings were later turned into an oracle card deck that I use for giving Soul Readings. Dalmia has appeared to remind us that we need sensual stimulation, body and mind luxuries, ‘mouth-feel’, and mental leaps into poetry every now and then to keep us feeling alive and on our toes. A Dream Visioning Exercise

Throw a party for that special someone! But first take some time to write in your journal about how you envision this ideal, special, romantic party for two. Who is in this vision with you? If you’re not quite sure yet, try picturing someone in your mind’s eye (third eye). Envision a day of bliss together and describe it in your journal.

Creative Prompt

Make or find a greeting card to express everything that you’ve just described in your journal and address it to that special someone. Try making a wish upon your card, to help bring this romantic event or special person into your life.

A Message from Bloodstone – Secret Wishes!

Can you feel the rhythm of your blood pulsing through your veins? You CAN BE the beauty you seek in the world.

Take a moment … for balance … for beauty … of grace Bloodstone Spheres

You are the bridge, you are the Goddess.

A Bloodstone Healing Exercise

What fills your heart and soul with gladness?

What secret pleasures are you longing to share?

Take a pebble in your hand and feel it’s soft smoothness. Now, release one of your secret pleasures by writing it down and do not show it to anyone else. (hush now…what is it?)

Then ask yourself: “How can I turn that secret wish into a reality?” And remember to think things through first - Libra is an Air Sign and comfortable in the realm of thoughts and ideas

Kathy is currently teaching  Awaken Your Divine Feminine Soul at the Wise Woman University. “Celebrating the lunar cycles is an important part of building a spiritual framework. Each month we can tune into her cycles to keep ourselves on track. At the new moon we plant our intentions for the month ahead, at the full moon we watch them flower, and at the waning moon we release and share our wisdom with the world. As women we are naturally able to resonate with these cycles in deep and meaningful ways.”
