I currently work with both hands to create paintings of a surreal and otherworldly nature based upon chance.

Guided by inner vision I use both my dominant and non dominant hands to create a portal into another world

Employing visionary methods of chance, collage, spiritual automatism and bibliomancy, I draw and paint with pen and ink, gouache and watercolor on paper.

Bibliomancy is an ancient craft that (for me) involves choosing a random (intuitive) passage from one of my books to inspire the painting. When done I randomly choose another word or phrase from the same book to become the title. Often I will cut out these words and collage them into the painting.

Spiritual Automatism is a method of art-making in which the artist suppresses conscious control over the making process, allowing the unconscious mind to have great sway. Early 20th-century Dadaists, such as Hans Arp made use of this method through chance operations. Leonora Carrington is a Surrealist artist who has also influenced my current work.
