Chakra Meditation & Yoga
Yoga Meditation can be combined with yoga or simple stretching. I recommend beginning with a yoga class and then adding your own private workout with the help of a yoga book or video. I’ve been practicing yoga by myself since 1995 with the help of The Inner Dance, A Guide to Spiritual & Psychological Unfolding by Diane Mariechild. My best friend likes this site, My Yoga Online
Chakra Meditation I also love to warm up with a Chakra Meditation. If you love color like I do you will enjoy this exercise.
The chakras are energy centers that operate like energy processing centers in our body. The chakra system (comprised of seven major chakras) is our energetic connection to spiritual essence and to the realm of pure consciousness.
Chakra Name/Location/Characteristics
Crown of head - Violet - Feelings of blissed out knowing, spirituality.
Forehead/Third eye - Indigo - Feeling in tune with one’s sixth sense, psychic sight.
Throat - Blue - Speaking one’s truth, communication.
Heart - Green/Pink - Feelings of pure love for all.
Solar plexus - Yellow - Feelings of inner strength, creation of self.
Sacral/Pubic - Orange - Feelings of desire, creativity.
Base of spine - Red/Black - Grounding and connecting with survival instincts.
To begin this meditation I would like you to take a deep breath as you envision a glowing, golden ball of light just above your head at your crown chakra (located at the very top of your head) - this chakra represents god/dess (or whatever name you choose to call the Divine.) Envision this beam of light flowing down through each chakra in your body as if you are journeying through every color of the rainbow. Let each chakra be infused with light by filling the chakra with more color if needed or by subtracting color from it. I like to breath in specific feelings that I associate with the color to help make them come alive. I especially like connecting with my heart chakra because it truly increases my feelings of love and gratitude. Eventually, with practice you will be able to sense if certain chakras need to be infused with more color or less.
Continue to let the rainbow beam of light energy work its way down your body and through the tips of your toes and then out through your root chakra at the very base of you spine and then allow the energy to flow deeply into the soil of mother earth herself as you ground and center the energy within your body. Allow yourself to exhale and release all your worries and doubts into the earth and then start all over again allowing your breath to form a circle from earth to sky.
Continue this meditation until you feel balanced, focused and relaxed and hopefully not asleep! Now you are ready for the next step in your soul’s journey.
